The 2027 Toyota Corolla arrives at MotorWorld Toyota during a milestone year for the long-running sedan. The Toyota Corolla originally debuted in Japan in 1966, making 2026 its 60th anniversary. MotorWorld Toyota is celebrating this anniversary by providing an overview of how the car has evolved and the special model Toyota created for its birthday.

From a Compact Car to a Modern Hybrid

Its six decades of life have brought major changes to the Toyota Corolla. For the 2027 model, buyers can choose between traditional gasoline models or a hybrid lineup that features Toyota Hybrid System 5. The gas engine produces 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque, while hybrids deliver a smooth 138 net combined horsepower.

Efficiency has always been a cornerstone of the Toyota Corolla, and this continues in the 2027 model. Depending on the trim level, the hybrid models have a maximum manufacturer-estimated 53 miles per gallon in the city and 46 on the highway. Finally, the 2027 model comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense™ 3.0, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility, and an eight-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia® touchscreen.

60th Anniversary Special Edition

Toyota is also producing a 60th Anniversary Special Edition based on the Hybrid SE trim level. There are only 2,500 planned for the U.S., so availability is limited. Supersonic Red is exclusively reserved for this edition, while Ice Cap is a second color option. The exterior also gets unique anniversary badging and 18-inch machined, black-finished alloy wheels. Inside, you’ll find Black and Red Sport Fabric seat inserts, commemorative door sills and floor mats, and a standard 10.5-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia® touchscreen.
