This fully redesigned model is a big leap forward from last year’s model, largely thanks to the introduction of an all-electric powertrain. Introducing All-Electric Power
While the 2026 Toyota Highlander relied on a combination of gasoline and hybrid powertrains, the new 2027 iteration debuts as the first three-row battery-electric vehicle sold by Toyota in the US. Available in XLE and Limited trim levels, it boasts up to 338 combined horsepower and an available 320-mile driving range on its all-wheel-drive configurations.
Another addition is that of a standard North American Charging System, or NACS, port. This allows drivers to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in roughly 30 minutes at compatible DC fast charging stations, including Tesla Supercharger® stations. Finally, the introduction of innovative vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology allows the SUV to serve as a mobile backup power source during emergencies.*

The 2027 generation of the Toyota Highlander introduces a lower, wider stance with modern aerodynamic elements like flush electronic door handles and a full-width daytime running light bar. Stepping inside the massive cabin, you’ll discover a new layout with a tech-forward cockpit featuring customizable 64-color ambient lighting and an expansive 14-inch touchscreen display running advanced multimedia software.
