Car seats were inspected, and drivers were given recommendations on how to better keep a child safe while driving. “To make sure everyone’s car seats are in there safely. They’re in snug and parents make sure their children are buckled in properly,” said Cathy Connors, Regional Coordinator for the Traffic Injury Prevention Project.
With holiday travel approaching, Connors feels vehicle safety is more important than ever.
Everyday stop-and-go traffic, traveling on the highway, can be very dangerous for a child. We just want to make sure they’re buckled up when they’re traveling, and they stay in the car and they’re buckled up and safe,” said Connors.
The check was hosted by PennDOT, MotorWorld, the Pennsylvania Traffic Injury Prevention Project, NEPA CPS Taskforce and the Wilkes-Barre Fire Department.
Santa also made an appearance to spread some early holiday cheer.
