Lately, we been getting an increasing number of inquiries about the 2017 Toyota Highlander. As people drive by our Toyota dealership and research new vehicles online, they’re noticing that something about this popular three-row SUV is simply different.
Well, there are a number of things that are different about the 2017 Toyota Highlander, the most noticeable of which is its looks. The new Toyota Highlander sports a larger trapezoidal grille that now extends to the bottom of its front bumper. The grille’s trim is silver tone on LE, LE Plus, and XLE Toyota Highlander models and chrome on the Limited and Platinum models. On the sporty SE trim, the grille has gloss-black slats, which make the SUV’s redesigned grille even more eye-catching.
The Toyota Highlander also has reshaped headlights and more pronounced corners on its bumper. The SUV has new taillights which boast standard LED elements as well. While both the 2016 and 2017 Toyota Highlander are powered by a 3.5-liter, six-cylinder engine, the one that motors the new Toyota Highlander generates more power.
Although we really appreciate the additional power the new engine produces and we admire the SUV’s new exterior appearance, we feel the most significant change that the Toyota brand made to this vehicle was to make Toyota Safety Sense standard on every Toyota Highlander model. Toyota Safety Sense is a suite of advanced safety features which includes pedestrian and vehicle detection technology, a collision avoidance and emergency braking system, a lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. A blind spot monitor that has a rear cross-traffic alert is also standard on all trims except the LE and LE Plus.
